Laser texturing: great success at Euromold 2012
Euromold confirmed itself as one of the most awaited events in the world of rubber and plastic moulds. The 2012 edition was particularly significant for ML Engraving. Compared with previous editions, this year visitors were already aware of the existance of the laser engraving technology and were determined to start new “laser-based” projects. They had requests about engraving times and prices, maximum depth or 3D-file management. Moreover, they asked solutions to problems caused by traditional methods.
The most frequent requests were related to the following topics:
-
to guarantee the continuity of the decoration on junctions and couplings;
-
to be able to engrave welded moulds;
-
to give the customer more freedom in the choice of the texture;
-
to handle complex shapes and to avoid deformations;
-
to guarantee the perfect correspondence between digital render and final result.
The 3D laser engraving technique has already confirmed itself as the future technology in mold texturing and ML Engraving is worldwide the indisputable leader in this field.
The Micro Laser Grains: the new service of ML Engraving
The Micro Laser Grains answer the exigencies of mould makers that often need this kind of finishing. By means of the
D.R.E® - Design Rendering Engineering, ML Engraving has developed and tested the laser version of the traditional grains in order to create artistic or geometric decorations, playing with the matt/glossy effect. MLG are 0-depth engravings (from 0,4 micron) and are featured by different scales of roughness and gloss. Mould makers are used to consider grains as low quality finishes, applied mainly to cover moulding defects, but ML Engraving offers, as usual, a new point of view.
The exclusive
Micro Laser Grains of ML Engraving e are available in ISO 1302 (N) scale and VDI (CH) scale.
